Baltimore Here We Come!
With the fundraising behind us, structure re-engineered, banner beautified, and dance perfected, the JVS Odyssey of the Mind team, coached by Kathleen Peabody, is nearly ready to depart for their trip to the World Competition in Baltimore, Maryland. Courteney Peabody, Alyssa Smith, Michaela Sprague, Michaela Peabody, Brooke Stewart, and Abby Farrin took first place in the Division 1 (Grades 3-5) Tee Structure Challenge for Maine. For the Tee Structure Challenge the girls had to build a structure out of balsa wood and glue that met the following requirements: the structure had to weigh no more than 18 grams, be at least 8 inches high, and had to hold golf balls and weights. At the state level competition, the girls' structure held 40 pounds and they were able to incorporate 8 out of the 10 possible golf balls, giving the team extra points. Great job ladies!
